Rare Disease Event: Biotech Research in Neurodegenerative Science
If you’re interested in biotech, research, or rare diseases, this event deserves your attention.
The Rare Disease Day Event 2026 brings together researchers, clinicians, and industry leaders who are working to advance biotech research in neurodegenerative disease. The Broad Institute hosts the event alongside the Ladders to Cures Scientific Accelerator and the Termeer Institute, creating a space for real collaboration across the field.
The event takes place on February 25 from 1:30–5:00 PM EST. You can attend in person in Cambridge or join virtually, which makes it easy to participate from anywhere.
Rare diseases may sound uncommon, but they affect a huge number of people. About 1 in 10 people live with a rare condition. Despite that, many of these diseases still lack effective treatments, which makes continued research critical.
Several challenges slow progress in neurodegenerative and rare disease research. Scientists often work with limited funding, small patient populations, and highly complex biology. These factors make it harder to move discoveries forward. However, events like this help push the field ahead by connecting people across the biotech ecosystem.
This event focuses on collaboration. Researchers share new findings, industry leaders discuss innovation, and organizations highlight ways to accelerate research into real treatments. Instead of working in isolation, participants learn from each other and build connections that can lead to progress.
You can expect discussions on biotech research, emerging therapies, and new approaches to treating neurodegenerative disease. Speakers will also explore how innovation continues to shape the future of rare disease treatment.

This event is a great fit if you:
- want to explore biotech or scientific research
- have an interest in rare diseases or neurodegenerative science
- want to understand how discoveries turn into treatments
Registration is free and open to anyone interested.
