Some SciStories Clients

FAQ

  1. We are a nonprofit representing the consumer products industry. Would SciStories be willing to work with an organization like ours?
  2. Working with nonprofits is very different from working with for-profit companies. Is SciStories equipped to be a good partner for us?
  3. Who does SciStories typically work with at your nonprofit clients?
  4. Part of our charter is supporting other, smaller nonprofits that are furthering our mission. We may want you to do some small work for them as part of your work for us. What would that look like?
  5. SciStories’ messaging really emphasizes the “science” focus. That’s great, and certainly helpful, but most of our communication needs are pretty standard. Are you experts in core marketing communications activities?

Sadly, no. We stay focused only on science and health, and the technologies relating to each. Our sweet spot for nonprofit clients include:

  • Research organizations focused on things like genomics, immunobiology, and curing specific diseases such as cancer
  • Philanthropic trusts that fund health and science
  • Hospitals and healthcare systems

We are also available to support adjacent nonprofits that are similarly oriented in science and health that also overlap with our knowledge, interests, and mission. Examples include research in the fields of physics, chemistry, and climate science.

Certainly. As our client list illustrates, we have an established track record working with a range of nonprofits. Some move slowly while others are surprisingly fast. Some are budget-challenged while others have lots of headroom. Some have us work within a web of bureaucracy while others are lean and mean. We’ve been in each of these scenarios, multiple times.

We choose nonprofits to be part of our narrow client focus because we share the same goals and inspirations that likely contributed  to your working for a nonprofit in the first place: we want to be a meaningful part of making positive change. We love – and understand, from years of experience – our nonprofit clients.

Our clients generally fit one of four profiles:

  • Director of Communications, for whom we provide support ranging from spot projects to full service agency of record
  • Founder/President/Executive Leader, for whom we serve as a warp-speed micro-agency catering to their direct communication needs
  • Program Manager, for whom we provide strategy and assets so they can most effectively communicate to their intended audiences
  • Researcher, for whom we provide traditional visualization services such as graphical abstracts, figures, and cover art

We enjoy supporting smaller nonprofits as well. What that sort of arrangement looks like is up to you. We can work through our existing agreements with you and be paid by you. Or work under your paper and be paid by them. Or make a new agreement with them and be paid by them. Or paid by you.

The bottom line: we’re flexible. All of us are rowing in the same direction.

Yes, we are. While our expertise in science communication makes us special among the some 60,000 marketing agencies in the United States, we are equally experienced in marketing, design, programming, and the other service provision skills we offer. Hopefully the clients who choose us, and the work you see on our site, speaks to that excellence. We are here to provide truly world-class communication services to our clients, no matter how large or small.
